TWEAK!!
We are currently working on new great Tweaks.
Please take a minute to read the agreements.
Tweaks
Tweak your internet speed for DSL, Cable, and Dial-Up connections.

If you have not read the agreements about our tweaks,
please do so now.

If you do not believe this can be done then read on. We actually took the CD to a local major Tech support company. This company has an average network. On a good day you can download files from the internet at 40/kps (keep in mind this is a T3 connection to a few servers that connect a few thousand workstations. this many computers makes the network slow.). We were asked to come up with a solution, which was were the CD came from. Just to test it out, we only installed the computer on about 50 workstations. Later that day these computers where running so fast that one of the servers overloaded and shutdown. The CD had worked too well. We will now recommend not to install the disk over a large network like we did. Simply install it to a small network or your own computer.
( -the company these tests were run on has asked not to be named)

Windows 95 Users - Run the W95ws2setup BEFORE doing the following regedit or running the 98speed.reg file. The 98speed.reg
file will work in 95 but only after running W95ws2setup!

CAUTION: This procedure may only be used with customers who feel comfortable editing the Windows registry. Prior to using this procedure, customers must understand that we cannot assist them in correcting registry problems that may result from this procedure. *

*Instructions for registry backup and restoration are listed at the bottom of this document

The following is a manual registry edit that is NOT icluded in the 98speed.reg file and this will greatly improve your connection speed. This and the 98speed.reg are only intended for high speed connections such as DSL, Cable, Wireless broadband, satellite, and T-lines.

** - To add this VERY useful key into your registry do the following:
1. Click on Start, then click Run and type in regedit and press ENTER. Then
2. Click on the plus sign next to each of the entries such as HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then the plus sign next to System,    CurrentControlSet, Services, Class, and finally the plus sign next to the NetTrans folder.
3. Click on the plus sign next to NetTrans and highlight the 000n folder by left clicking on it one time. You may have have     other folders such as 0001, 0002 and so on. You want to higlight each of these and look in the second column on the right    side of the window located under the Data box at the VERY top. In one of these you will see TCP/IP. Once you locate the      correct folder right click on a blank spot inside the right hand window (the same window where you see TCP/IP). You will     see a box that says new. Simply point your cursor on this and left click one time on string value. This will create a new    box where you will type in MaxMTU (note that this is case sensitive and you should NOT type in the quotation marks) and      press enter.
4. Then right click on the MaxMTU entry you just added and left click on modify. Type in 1500 if you know for sure your       provider doesn't use PPPoE. If your not sure type in 1492 in the Value data box and click OK. Then close the registry       editor by clicking the x in the upper right hand corner and restart your computer.

Registry path = HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\NetTrans\000n (Where "000n" is your TCP/IP protocol. It contains "TCP/IP" assigned to the "DriverDesc" value. "n" can be any number from 0 to 9)
MaxMTU="1500" (string var) Note: If you're using DSL and your ISP has implemented PPPoE, you must set MaxMTU to 1492 or less.

NOTE: Potential registry errors may be avoided by backing up the registry prior to running this procedure and then restoring it afterward. The following procedure details registry backup and restoration.

Backing up the Registry
In Windows 95, choose Start and select Run.
Type in REGEDIT and choose OK.
Choose Registry and select Export Registry File. Make sure the Export Range is set to ALL and Save As File Type says REGISTRATION FILES.
Enter a filename (for example, Backup), but do not enter an extension. .REG will be added automatically.
Note the directory where the file is being saved in (for example, C:\WINDOWS\TEMP).
Select Save. Now a backup has been created.
Restoring the Registry from the backup
Start Windows 95.
Choose Start and select Run.
Type in REGEDIT and choose OK.
Choose Registry and select Import Registry File.
Select the directory where the backup was saved (for example, C:\WINDOWS\TEMP) and select the right file (for example, BACKUP.REG).
Choose OPEN.
The following message will appear: "Information in C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\BACKUP.REG has been successfully imported into the registry." The registry has now been restored.
If Windows does not start up after this
Restore the registry by following these steps:

Boot up the PC to the DOS command prompt.
Change the directory to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM by typing CD WINDOWS\SYSTEM and pressing ENTER.
Type: REGEDIT /C C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\BACKUP.REG (If this is the directory and filename you used when creating the backup. Otherwise use the path and filename that you previously entered.)
The message: "Importing file 100%" will appear. At this point, the registry has been restored, and Windows will start.
